July 1st, when UA goes on vacation and GA4 steps up to the analytics plate!July 1st might be a date marked in red on your calendar (or it should be), but let me tell you, folks, this isn't the day to sit back with your morning coffee and suddenly say, "Hmm, maybe I should think about my KPIs now."That's like showing up for a marathon without any training and hoping to win the gold. It's like baking a cake and forgetting the flour (cake soup, anyone?). It's like...well, you get the point.If you’re planning to identify your KPIs on July 1st, that's like realizing you forgot to pack your parachute after you've already jumped out of the plane! Yes, you'll get somewhere, but it won't be a pretty landing.Our KPIs are the North Star of our marketing efforts, guiding our strategies, and informing our decisions. As Google Analytics 4 comes to town, it's essential to already have your KPIs in order and your measurement plan mapped out. So, don't be that guy, fumbling around on July 1st while GA4 is already swinging into action. Get ahead, define your KPIs, and embrace GA4 with open arms and clear strategies. Gonna step on some toes today.So many people are complaining about GA4 right now.Yeah, it’s a lot different than UA.But let’s put this in perspective.GA4 is free. FREE. It's a great addition for quick, easy, routine reporting internally or for source/attribution/event-level tracking.But . . . it’s free, y’all.It’s like complaining about the reliable, tasty, free coffee at church tasting a bit different than last Sunday’s free coffee.Am I upset about some of the changes?Sure.But, here’s how I’m handling it:📈 I have used Google Analytics (both UA and GA4) less and less in the last two years, because marketing (collectively) has been moving to revenue-based metrics and KPIs. I find better data for that elsewhere.📈 I spend more time reporting out of CRMs than I do website traffic and event-based platforms (like GA4), so maybe this is an opportunity to start reporting elsewhere and gathering different data.📈 Since GA4 is free - I'd encourage most organizations to figure out what gaps they need to fill and supplement it with a paid analytics or attribution software to complement what your CRM or other systems will integrate with📈 Personally, I just feel like there's a lot of fuss over GA4, but it's free. Ha. You’re welcome, Google Analytics. Havin’ our backs like free (refreshing) church coffee since ‘05.#marketing #googleanalytics4 #googleanalytics #analytics
